1966-1968 7/17 arty, outside the village of Pamkoji. Didn't see any real action, but had a great time and fond memories. I have some photos to share if I can figure out how to do it.
I was suppose to leave the day they stole the Pueblo, was held over for a month or so. I went through Imjin School and that was as close to real combat. Often wonder what happened to my 1st love Jo Suk Ja, really missed her.

How did 47 years go back without me reaching backwards to connect with friends and others that shared the experience of serving in the Dmz. A few hours into my search I came up with guy ( Burt Baca ) that was in my unit at the same time and lives about 30 minted away. Our first visit with each other lasted over for hours. A treat for sure !

Have some pictures of the two camps we rotated to and from. Will improve their quality and then post them.

From June 1968 through July 1969, I was assigned to HHC 2/23rd Inf., Second Infantry Division, stationed at Camps Dodge (for DMZ duty) and Lawton, approximately two or three(3) miles down south after crossing Freedom Bridge.

I was with Charlie Company 1stBn(Mech)7th ID from June 68
thru July 69. I set up my 81 MM gun Tracks in your area of operations in Dec. 1968. We opened rounds and laid the
guns on a bench mark to shoot a blocking mission on a road inside the Z. I did not know it was to cover the Pueblo Crew as they crossed Freedom Bridge. We were on a bluff just south and west of the bridge port on the south side of the Imjim. I had a camera but never shot one photo of the buses and what all. It didn't occur to me what a great time it was to take a photo.
Check out the 17th Infantry web site. Its being re built and we shall add a lot more stuff from our time on the line. I have pictures of the wire and some of the gates if you would like to see them. The post by William Beaver
is interesting because he is on the Board of Directors of the 17th Infantry Regiment Association.

Thank You Robert for putting this site together. Your time, energy and devotion has enabled many of us who severed with the 23rd infantry to re-connect with old friend. Those friendships will continue that bond we shared together so many years ago. Also, you have given us a forum in which we are able to share our photos and memories. We all wish you the best......Mario Pacella (tour of duty March 68 to June 69)
